A campus for the data economy with Almar Consulting leading the project management.

The former Expo site in Zaragoza is welcoming a new large-scale development. ThePower University, a leading institution in technology education, has selected the Expo complex to establish its new university headquarters and has appointed Almar Consulting to provide comprehensive project management services. The project involves the complete transformation of a five-storey building into a campus designed as a technological education hub with a European scope.

The choice of Zaragoza is strategic. The region of Aragón is consolidating its position as a key player in the European technology landscape, driven by major investments from companies such as Amazon and Microsoft in digital infrastructure. This emerging ecosystem requires highly skilled talent, and ThePower University aims to become one of its main educational providers.

The project is driven by a clear ambition: to develop a university model that integrates technology, applied innovation, and direct engagement with the business sector, with the objective of training professionals for the new digital economy. Profiles such as cloud engineering, database management, operations, and specialised mechanical engineering are at the core of this new academic offering.

The intervention at the Zentro Expo building consists of a comprehensive retrofit of an existing five-storey structure, converting it into a next-generation technological campus. This is not a new-build project, but a full refurbishment that must address both academic requirements and the technological demands of an advanced training centre.

Overall project coordination has been entrusted to Almar Consulting, a firm specialised in project management for highly complex real estate assets. The project will be led by Alodía Sánchez, Associate and Operations Director of the company, who will oversee planning, organisation, and end-to-end project control from inception through to delivery.

“This project is not only about adapting an existing building, but about developing an academic infrastructure capable of responding to a rapidly expanding technological ecosystem,” Sánchez explains. “Our role is to provide structure, methodology, and control to translate that vision into a robust and sustainable reality.”

Almar Consulting brings extensive experience in high-level educational infrastructure, having contributed to projects such as the Madrid Culinary Campus in Chamartín, promoted by Universidad Pontificia Comillas, the UAX Mare Nostrum Campus in Málaga—LEED certified—and several university developments for Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio, among others.
